A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME
FROM THE FORMATION OF THE UNIVERSE TO
THE 21ST CENTURY
This book offers a selection of more
than 1000 crucial events in World history. The information it
presents is arranged in chronological order, in the form of
entries in a "diary" that begins with the Big Bang and ends in
the present day, giving the general impression of a journey
through time. Its aim is to give the reader a clear and accurate
view of the whole history of the universe, including the history
of our planet and the development of life in it, but especially
of the history of mankind and the western civilization. The
chronology includes pictures, charts and maps that are placed at
the end of each of the ten historical periods in which it is
divided, and/or as appendixes at the end of the book. This book
is thus an excellent source of historical reference, which does
not lose value over time because the information it contains is
always valid.
The author, Hector Zapatero, is a
retired translator who has had a passion for world history for
more than 40 years, since the days he was at elementary school.
He nowadays works giving lectures on the history and literature
of the western civilization, besides teaching English and
Italian. This book is the product of a project that began many
years ago, and consisted in compiling, sorting out, arranging
and commenting the information following the following three
main criteria: importance, simplicity and global perspective.
